Friends Plus Fish Equals FUN on the Captain Eddie B III!

Friends of The Spencer Foundation pose on the dock in front of the Captain Eddie B III

Saturday July 25th could not have been more perfect.  The skies and the seas were blue and beautiful and the fish were biting as The Spencer Foundation
continued celebrating our 10 year Anniversary on the Captain Eddie B III with Captain Zack and his crew out of Captree, New York.

It didn’t take long for the fish to start biting, and our anglers enthusiastically reeled them in

The end result:  a boatful of happy people who had a wonderful time, who raised over $4600.00 for the Foundation!  One hundred percent of these funds will go to our Sassy’s Small Stuff and Beyond the Cure Ambassador Scholarship programs.

Jeanine Spencer shared her thoughts on this wonderful event.  “Everyone had a wonderful time.  People came from as far away as South Carolina to join us.  It’s a day all look forward to.

“Captain Zach and the crew of the Captain Eddie B III are simply amazing.  People on board couldn’t thank them enough for being so attentive to our fishing needs.  They have fun with us on the boat and helped make the trip a complete success.  At the end of the day, it’s wonderful when you thank the Captain and crew and they wind up thanking you, saying it’s a pleasure to spend the day with such a group of wonderful people for an organization that does great stuff to help kids and their families.

“Our heartfelt gratitude to those of you that donated raffles, food, beverages, donated, bought raffles and help spread the word about what we do.  So many amazing people donated raffle prizes:
– Two trips on his charter fishing boat donated by Captain Steve of Super Hawk Fishing
– A private half-day fishing trip for two donated by Captain Dave Flanagan of Fly and Light Tackle
– Two rod-and-reel with line and tackle box (raffled individually)
– Two Arizona Iced Tea swag bags and T-shirts donated by Kristen
– Two lottery boards donated by Joanne
– A tequila basket and a bottle of Irish whiskey
– A basket of games
– A backpack cooler
– Spencer Foundation T-shirts
– A 50/50 raffle which raised $880 dollars

“And even more folks pitched in to make the day perfect:
– Laurie baked cookies all day the day before our trip, enough to feed everyone on the boat including the crew
– Denise and John brought coolers of ice and water
– Danny and Amy set up the food and snacks for everyone and kept the group organized
– Big Frank collected for the 50/50 raffle

“We came back to the dock while watching a beautiful sunset to cap off a wonderful day.  Looking back, with everyone’s help and the love of so many, we’ve accomplished more than we could have imagined over the last 10 years.  We look forward to doing even more to help children and their families in the years to come.”
