Jessica Cook, Vice President of Patient and Family Services at The National Children’s Cancer Society (NCCS), expressed her thanks to the Foundation:
“Each year, one of the greatest privileges of the Beyond the Cure Ambassador Scholarship Program is welcoming a new class of students whose lives have been shaped by the experience of childhood cancer. We are deeply grateful to The Spencer Foundation for their generous support of these exceptional young survivors. Their investment helps make it possible for our scholars to pursue their educational goals with confidence, hope, and the knowledge that others believe in their future.
“Each of these remarkable young people has a story that is uniquely their own. These stories are shaped by childhood cancer, but defined by so much more: curiosity, compassion, creativity, purpose, and an unwavering belief in what is possible. Throughout, we have seen the many ways our scholars are using their experiences to shape their futures. They are pursuing degrees in science, medicine, environmental sustainability, data science, physics, and more. They are competing, debating, creating art, building satellites, serving their communities, and finding meaningful ways to give back to other children and families. They are not simply moving forward, they are making the most of the opportunities they have been given.
“The generosity of The Spencer Foundation makes these opportunities possible. Your support provides more than financial assistance. It tells each scholar that someone believes in them, believes in their dreams, and believes in the difference they can make in the world. That message of belief can carry a young person a very long way.
“We are profoundly grateful for your continued commitment to these extraordinary young survivors and for the trust you place in The National Children’s Cancer Society. It is an honor to share their stories with you, and we hope you feel the same pride and joy we do when you see what they are accomplishing. Jeanine Spencer shared a reflection:
“It is humbling to be part of something so meaningful; to make a difference in someone’s life. The collaboration with others that are so giving is one of the most heartwarming experiences, and to see the positive outcome in others lives just brings it to another level. Everyone crosses our path for a reason and I am so happy that The Spencer Foundation has partnered with The National Children’s Cancer Society (NCCS) in providing scholarships to pediatric cancer survivors.
