The Spencer Foundation is working with the Lions District 20K2-Nassau County NY and Bermuda to bring in spring with a roar with gift bags for the pediatric cancer patients at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital and Cohen’s Children’s Medical Center!   The gift bags will contain pajamas, interactive toys and weighted Teddy Bears.

Says Terri Oster, former District Governor and Global Team Service Coordinator of the Lions District, “Weighted stuffed animals are good for childhood cancer patients because they have been shown to reduce negative feelings such as anxiety and stress particularly in uncomfortable or unfamiliar environments.  Interactive toys will help redirect their focus on something other than why they are there.”

Jeanine Spencer added, “I became a member of the Lions Club last year to help others. The Lions are about people coming together to help those in need in their community. The Spencer Foundation can not be more honored to partner with the Lions Club on this project to bring hope and smiles to children that are fighting what could be the battle of their lives”

The Lions District has reached out to their local clubs and members for donations.  They will assemble the gift bags at their District Convention on March 5, 2023.
So far The Spencer Foundation has raised $1,455 to support this through our Facebook fundraiser and our website.  Want to help bring smiles to these kids?  You can still donate here on our website!
