Best Day Yet For Our Fishing Fundraiser

Three toy turtles on the deck of a fishing boat with a fishing net in the background

On Saturday July 19th, 2025 the turtles and friends of The Spencer Foundation set off to sail on the Captain Eddie B Ill.   The skies were blue, the clouds were white, the seas were calm and the fish were biting – lots of action, and our friends caught 20 keepers.  The Foundation was a winner too, with over $3600 raised for our SASsy’s Small Stuff program at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital.

Said Jeanine Spencer, “As always, a wonderful day on the Eddie B III with Captain Zack and his crew out of Captree, Long Island NY!   These folks are absoultely amazing and we look forward to being with them every year.  Just want to thank everyone for all the love and support today and making our fishing fundraiser a huge success for the kids at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital. A very special thank you from our turtle friends for every one that came out to support us and what we do. We couldn’t have done it without you all.”

Our special thanks go out to:

  • Captain Dave Flannigan from NorthlslandFly.com for donating a private fishing charter as a raffle prize
  • Kristin and Arizona Ice Tea for donating the Arizona raffle and all the ice tea for the boat
  • Joann for donating the lottery raffle boards
  • Laurie for baking delicious cookies
  • Kathy for the watermelon
  • Denise for the water and ice
  • and everyone who brought there love of kids and desire to help others

As we boarded and got ready to cast off, we never imagined a more perfect day on The Captain Eddie B III.

We were in the friendly and capable hands of Captain Zack and his crew.  He and his crew are amazing and we look forward to being with them every year.

There were big fish and little fish and everything inbetween. We had 20 flukes that were keepers, an all time record and a nice weakfish.

It was a warm day so we stayed cool and hydrated. Fun was had by all. Thank you again to everyone that donated so generously!
