On Saturday, September 27th, friends of The Spencer Foundation set forth once again from Captree State Park to try their luck with the wily fish that swim in the waters near Long Island.  They were blessed with blue skies and calm waters, boding well for the day ahead.

Once again, Captain Zach took the helm of the Captain Eddie B III, saying, “It is always a pleasure to be part of TSF fundraiser and love the energy of such a wonderful group.”

The anglers positioned themselves along the rails and prepared to cast.

A wily seagull cast an eye over the intrepid passengers.  Sensing their skill, it decided to join them in hope of getting a few fish for itself.

And the fish obliged!  There were small fish

and bigger fish,

round fish

and spiky fish,

fat fish

and flat fish.

Dave, one of the Foundation’s trustees, was everywhere on the boat, making sure that everything was running smoothly and everyone was enjoying themselves.

And there was plenty of time for relaxing.  The turtles introduced their newest friend Sandi to the joys of sunning while out on the water.

The day ended as beautifully as it began.

Jeanine Spencer shared her thoughts:  “So happy that every one had a good time and it was extra special welcoming Sandi our latest turtle friend who was Casandra’s favorite.  It is so wonderful to be amongst such fun people that all have a common cause. With the generosity of such wonderful souls we raised $2,455.   I thanked everyone and instead they couldn’t thank me enough for all that the foundation does.  Truly such a heartfelt moment. “

Special thanks to those that donated raffles:
 – Joanne for donating the lottery boards and the stuffed toy and blanket gift basket
 – Charlie for donating the two fishing trip vouchers
 – Kristen for donating the Arizona swag

And even more thanks to Danny for all his help before, during and after the fund raiser, and to Eleanore for donating supplies and other good stuff for the children at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital.
