The beginning of fall is just a few days away – a time of dazzling leaves, warm beverages and cool breezes that are best enjoyed from under a warm snuggly blanket. To help make that dream a reality, on September 15th Jeanine Spencer dropped off 22 hand made crocheted blankets to We Care Blankets for their upcoming wrap party on October 8th.
Edith Heinsohn, the Director of Distribution for We Care Blankets, could not be more grateful, saying “The blankets are so beautiful, and they are so needed, thank you very much.”
Jeanine Spencer commented, “We’ve worked with We Care Blankets since 2016, and are glad we’re able to help support their mission. Our volunteers knit and crochet these blankets with love, knowing they will be given to children undergoing treatment for cancer that need to know that there are people who care. “

And a deafening shout-out to the marvelous Lois Ludwig, who crocheted all of the blankets Jeanine delivered this week! Lois shared, “Crocheting is so relaxing. I love crocheting. So happy that something I enjoy doing can be given as a gift to someone. It is a pleasure and with great pride to make the blankets knowing they will be donated to those that are sick and to cancer patients”.
Jeanine Spencer said, “Lois is kind enough to purchase the yarn and take the many hours it takes to make these blankets, in order to make someone else’s day a little brighter. We look forward to the many more people she will bring some joy to. If you know someone that likes to knit or crochet, but doesn’t know who could use a blanket, and they want to help make a difference in someone’s life, and lives on Long Island, contact us and perhaps we can help.”
